Introduction

Getting leads for your business is the first step to running a successful company. Without leads your business can not grow. In 2020 the best place to generate leads for your roofing company is the internet. In this blog post we will talk about the 5 best ways for roofing companies to get leads online.

How to Generate Leads

Below are 5 ways to generate leads online for your roofing business.

#1 Google My Business

A very important piece of getting leads online is from claiming your “Google My Business” free listing. It can provide leads for free easily and stand as a trusted source for customers to find and validate your business.

To get started it needs to be optimized. Showing up lower than 3 places down will do you very little good. What we strive for is shooting for the number 1 spot. That will result in the most business. To reach the first spot you have to do a few very easy things to optimize the listing. While there is no 100% sure way of reaching number 1 spot there are things you can do to greatly improve the likelihood of reaching that #1 spot.

First you’ll want to gather the company’s “about us” section or bio, then put together 10-12 high quality pictures. Videos are a great addition to your listing if you have them. If you don’t have videos, no worries, pictures work great.

Remember this is your brand and how people are going to judge you. If your pictures are blurry, unprofessional, or just plain bad, it’ll result in a poor outcome.

Next, you’ll want to optimize your listing by filling out all the details you can. Make sure to add a phone number people can reach you at, a valid website, hours you’re in business everyday. You’ll also want to add the about us section and pictures to the listing. The more information the better your listing.

Getting reviews is the next most important step. If you have a few or no reviews yet don’t worry. You should find the best way to get reviews from your customers once you’re done. Try sending them an email right away or speaking to them right after the job is done and asking them if they can give you feedback and a nice review on Google. Most will say “YES!” but few will actually do it. Stick through and be persistent on the review. If they are not budging ask what could have been improved and take the feedback. Any feedback is better than none.

#2 Pay-per-click

“PPC visitors are 50% more likely to buy than organic visitors” (Forbes)

What is PPC? Pay-per-click also known as “PPC” is advertising on sites like Bing, Google, and other search engines. PPC continues to shine in the roofing industry as a great source for leads and new customers. A solid PPC strategy for roofers can move your business to the next level. It can be a strong source of lead generation for your sales team or great for the small roofing companies that don’t have a sales force yet. The main platforms for PPC are:

These top three PPC platforms are where your company should focus their attention. Start with the most popular on Google, dial it in and get it working, then move over to Bing and Facebook.

Disclaimer: The PPC space is extremely competitive today. Much more than it was a few years ago and much much more than it was a decade ago. The point of running pay-per-click ads is to get a positive ROI. If you don’t see a positive ROI, you end up stopping them and saying they don’t work. The only way you will see a great return with PPC today is if you find a successful person or company to run your ads. Without one you will be better off throwing your money in a fire pit and lighting it.

If you are seriously looking to grow your roofing company to the next level I would highly recommend hiring a professional PPC company like Max Conversion to help out with your ads.

#3 Email Marketing

“Email marketing has an average ROI of 4400%” (Insights for Professionals)

Often overlooked but email marketing still stands as one of the most cost effective ways to generate new leads and get referrals from older customers. Email marketing for roofing businesses doesn’t need to happen at the beginning of your business, but you always need to be building a list of old customers, potential customers, current customers, and future customers. Have everything integrated to where when you get someone’s email it logs them into the right email list. A strong email list can do more for you then just generate leads. It can create brand loyalty, referrals, new leads, and education.

#4 SEO And Local SEO

A staggering “97% of consumers searched online for a local service.” (Bright Local)

SEO also known as “Search Engine Optimization” can be a dominant strategy for your roofing company. This refers to showing up in Google organically (for free without paying) for relevant search terms that your customers are searching for. Search terms like “roofing contractor in my area” or “roofing company in [insert city]” will provide more business to you.

Now this isnt always the easiest strategy. SEO companies are getting hands on companies and coming up with a solid strategy for them to rank for top keywords. In order to rank for top keywords today, you’re usually going to want to hire an SEO company to help you out. If you can’t afford to hire an SEO company yet, then in the meantime you should be building up content and publishing it to the site. Your website should already be SEO optimized to where adding content, alt tags, and relevant keywords should be all you have to do in order to start ranking. The other factors like backlinks will come down the road, but if you can’t afford to hire an SEO company, then you should publish content consistently whether that’s weekly, bi-weekly, or once a month. The most successful roofing companies that show up on Google organically all have lots of pages and content on their website. Some pages you may want to add now are:

  • Storm damage repair
  • Emergency roof repair
  • ALL Location pages
  • Add all cities and come up with unique content for all them.
  • All service pages
  • Residential roofing
  • Commercial roofing
  • Power washing
  • Gutter cleaning
  • … etc…
  • About us page
  • Asphalt roofing (repair, replacement, installation)
  • Metal roofing (repair, replacement, installation)

Having lots of content on your website will help you show up more regularly throughout Google. Google likes to see websites update their website regularly by publishing relevant content. All in all, make sure you have a great roofing website design company like Max Conversion to do your website development so that you can get the ball rolling quickly with SEO.

#5 Directories

Directories are important for your roofing company to be on. They serve as a trust symbol to customers and people researching your company before deciding to use you. The top directories for roofers you’ll want to be are:

Do your best to get reviews on all of them. The more reviews you have the more you’ll show up across these directories. We have a full list of roofing directories every roofing company needs to be on, take a look and add your business to the ones that you’re not already on.

Being on directories will help your online presence and generate leads, and will help by linking back to your website for backlinks. Disclaimer: There are two types of backlinks, “Do-Follow” and “No-Follow” most directories use “No-Follow” backlink and will provide no juice to your website. Although some directories do still provide “Do-Follow” links, and we do believe it’s important to always have your business on as many directories as possible.

Conclusion

I decided to keep the list short and sweet. Having a long list of “ways to generate leads for your roofing business” would not be as helpful as a small list. What I recommend to you is to pick one and go all in on it. I would begin at #1 and sign up for a Google My Business if you haven’t already. If you have GREAT! Next, optimize your listing with pictures, posts, descriptions, and most importantly reviews. Without reviews your listing won’t do much. Next sign up for the directories, get your business out there. Then choose one of the #’s listed above and start there. Don’t focus on all at the same time, pick one and go all in. The purpose of this blog post is to help your roofing company get started on generating leads online. Get ready for a new stream of leads, and remember each one comes with their challenges, but each one pays off ten fold when your business successfully dials them in. Good Luck!

Google Ads Keywords and ad groups used for a flooring company looking to generate more leads for flooring installation, flooring refinishing, & flooring repair.
By Kyle Waters 09 Mar, 2021
Introduction Should you run ads on Google or Bing? Why not both? Most people fight over which one is better, although we are not here to talk about that. Both are great and you should be on both. Bing is known for having less traffic than Google. With everything perceived wrong there is an opportunity shining bright ready for companies to take charge. In this post, we will cover everything from how/why Bing offers a lower CPC than Google to the easy inputs that Bing has put into its ad platform to allow easy automation of successful ads. After reading this post, you should be able to understand how Bing is a great place for a company wanting to get in front of more customers. Here are some statistics on why your company should be using Bing: 6 billion monthly searches 34.7% Desktop The usage is a 50/50 between male and female One advertiser found that his bounce rate for Bing-generated traffic is 8% lower than the site’s overall bounce rate. Bing recently increased its website exclusion limits from 500 to 2000, enabling better targeting and quality control. Easily import Google Ads campaign into Bing Ads What are Bing Ads? Similar to Google Adwords, Bing is a platform where hundreds of millions of searches happen each day. People of all ages still use Bing as their main search engine. Bing is the second largest search engine in the United States, which gives companies a great opportunity to get in on the low CPC (cost-per-click) and the even lower CPA (cost-per-action/acquisition/lead). The reason you don't hear many companies bring up Bing is that it is not the primary go-to for PPC Advertising. You often hear more of Google Adwords and Facebook. Let’s uncover the strategy behind Bing and how it can lead to more customers. Where Bing Advertising Thrives Bing ads thrive where no other advertising platform does. Being the most overlooked platform now, Bing offers huge potential to grow your business fast and affordably. Here is why: LOWER CPC AND CPA Bing is great for companies looking for another ad platform to grow their business on. Since Bing has a lower search query than Google that means Bing’s keywords and advertising is overall cheaper than Google. RETURN ON AD The average return on ad spend (ROAS) for Google Shopping campaigns is 751% versus 1,345% for Bing Product Ads. Searchers on Microsoft and Yahoo sites are likely to spend 21.5% more than the average web searcher The average revenue per click for Google Shopping campaigns is $3.58 versus $4.43 for Bing Product Ads. AGE DIFFERENCE Nearly 40% of Bing users are between 35-54 years old. Great industries for Bing are industries that target middle and older age people. This is a great way to lower your CPC while also lowering your CPA because you understand the audience you are looking to target. WAGE GAP This is a big one. Since the age gap is more focused on middle generations these people also prove to have more money. 33% of Bing users have a household income of over $100,000. Expensive services and products not only perform better on Bing because of the older generation the wage gap is higher than Google’s average. AUTOMATION Bing makes automation really easy. So easy a beginner that knows very little about Bing advertising can go on to the Bing advertising dashboard and set up automation. This automation includes turning on and off keywords, ads, ad groups, campaigns, and more. You can choose only to enable the campaign when… Fill in the blank… That helps you save costs and only show ads when a certain metric is being met. LOWER COMPETITION Bing ads are easily overlooked by a majority of companies. Most, don’t even consider Bing as an optimal platform to advertise on. The best attribute that Bing advertising offers is the lower competition compared to other advertising platforms. While Bing has a historically lower cost-per-click, they also have lower competition which allows your ad to show up higher in the results for the individuals who don’t use Google. There are buyers and you can get more volume to your website for a more affordable price than Google. CONCLUSION Bing gets a lot more hate than it should. It isn't talked about nearly enough in the advertising space. In reality, Bing advertising can be just as or more profitable than Google Adwords. Just because it has less traffic doesn't mean they don't have enough to make a significant difference on a business. Bing on average gets almost 900,000,000 searches every single day. That is a ton and since fewer companies are advertising in that space it leaves lots of room for your company to jump in and get in front of more customers. generate more reviews for junk removal companies
By Kyle Waters 22 Feb, 2021
Generating more reviews isn't hard and it is actually very simple. The first step to maximizing reviews is to ask for them using a review link. You should direct all junk removal reviews to high-volume directory sites.
